In 2008 Ed Husain founded Quilliam, a counter-extremism think tank. He is the author of The Islamistand is former Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he focused on trends within Arab Islamism, perceptions of the West in the Arab world, and US policy toward the Middle East. He has appeared on several media outlets, and writes regularly on radicalisation and terrorism for the mainstream press, including the New York Times, Financial Times and the Guardian.
