CoJiT is an independent initiative intended to have a direct impact on countering jihadist terrorism and extremism in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

From the middle of the last decade there has been a radical increase in the incidence of jihadist terrorism directed at, both the United Kingdom and our European neighbours. There are renewed calls to invigorate a proper national conversation about the causes of and the responses to this particular terrorist problem.

CoJiT is an initiative designed to make a rapid, direct and high-profile contribution to that discourse. CoJIT is constituted as a registered nonprofit company limited by guarantee that is totally independent, privately funded and free standing that simply aims to contribute to the public good.

It brings together leading experts who are among the best in the business to look afresh at how we define the problem of jihadist terrorism and to discuss openly and without fear or favour what should be done to counter it. It seeks to identify concrete actions for practical engagement at all levels that would lead to policy and operational change.

CoJiT promotes this engagement through an independent national dialogue with community individuals, local government and social and police leads, as well as with national government, focusing on practical solutions identified by the initiative and encourage where possible their adoption and implementation.
